  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

    Well, only S-type has the permissions to do anything about it. You're posting in the forum issues thread that is used primarily for maintenance of threads. Who knows when S-type might view the thread? You want faster results, try sending him a pm.

    I understand that magge. But, really, this is a small issue. It does not hinder yours or anyone's ability to post or download any content. We are talking about smilies afterall. So, please message him and be patient. Im sure if there is something to be done, he will do it as he has time. This is not a full time or paid position for any of us on the staff.

    Sorry guys, I am back in action since a couple of days ago, but I'd forgotten this little problem. However, the loss of odd smileys isn't a Xenforo glitch, but a problem with the source of the smiley.
    So if you can find a working version of the original - or a suitable alternative - and post it in here, I'll fix it up.

    PS Just remember, we're talking about smileys, NOT emoji's!

    Smileys were originally the character-derived 'images' such as :) [smile] and :( [sad] that evolved into 'Emoticons', the small pics like you can find in the first line when you click on the smiling face symbol above.
    'Emoticons' continue to be widely referred to as Smileys (or Smilies) although the 'technology' is radically different .
    A newer generation has evolved, generally referred to as 'Emoji's' (from the Japanese), which tend to be larger, more complex, and coded differently.
    Our existing Xenforo version (1.5.21) can display 'Emoji's' on the page using BBCoding, but can't handle them in the 'Smilies' internal catalogue and selection process.

    Xenforo doesn't store images, Magge, it only stores links to them.
    So in the case you quote the software is saying that the site that provided the image has gone down or is being blocked, or the site itself has removed that image.
    If P4 can still see the images, it looks like it may be site-blocking by different administrations that's happening?

    PS I can't see the images either.
