There was no real outcome but we agreed I guess that the blank space next to the sigs really didn't matter if they were filled or not.

We'll have to do something for those greedy ones. :D

    Meanwhile some other idea:

B's spot on, last year a few members recieved more than one award. to keep it similar size to an avi would work if the user did not have a sig or had a sig no higher than 70 pixels. others may want to put "badge medals" into their sig if they can.

if the awards are attractive then i think people would not bother about keeping them for a while.

on another note. i did previously see an awards where the user had a single medal bandge and underneath it was a text message that showed what tehy won. (Funiest member - Gold (then it would switch to) Best new member - Bronze) and so on. This might work if someone knows how to create that code.

yes I agree. avatar sized ones would probably work the best.

I know half signature sized ones look better but if they are going to be added to the sig area they can't be too large.

I know this would be asking a lot from high above but, anyone like this idea? Check left column.

i think it was mentioned before, but gif ones would be good for multiple winners. an avatar sized square with the relevent medal, and it rotates. so if you won 1 or 10 the area taken up by the award will stay the same.

B comes up with a fucking top idea.

I've seen badges and text put in the left collumn on more than one VB board. So it must be possible.

Text would be just fine IMO. Ranking would be a secondary issue. It also eliminates failing image hosts.

I think this is the best way to go, just display the awards in the left column in plain letters.
Maybe just a small pic could be used next to his/her sig just to bring out they've won an award.

    Something like this maybe:

I think it's a great idea, with but one caveat: The User Profile will have to be modified to add the Awards category, and unless there's a way to limit it to just those members who've won something, any member can go to Edit Profile and add whatever they want to it. My question then becomes, is there a way to limit that access? Or does it matter?
