The wife and I went out for a leisurely drive along the backroads of Niagara earlier this afternoon - and did a bit of photography of the fall colors and scenery.

    Sandhill Cranes

pretty impressive (and loud, aren´t they? ;))

cranes have been quite important for people in "ancient" times without tv, internet, weatherforecasts etc. - their immigration marked the beginning and their emigration the end of the agriculture-season in many areas of the world.

still amazing, this thread. you can learn about toxic spiders or just enjoy places phunners live in or visit. great.

my Friends ATV busted a drive belt on it so he had to get a ride back to town. so we gassed up my Truck and went to go pick it up. on the ride over we ran into a few huge herds of Caribou. great to see them close to town again.

check it out. rode about 40 miles in total.

Nope....but there was a lot of water becouse the Iguazu and Parana rivers which form the falls come directly from the Amazonas and there was heavy rains over there.

That is just part of the old viewpoint....the pics that I took belong from different catwalks over the falls. ;)

I took advantage of some nice mild temps earlier today and did some hiking along the Niagara trails - capturing some of the fall color.

The salmon were making their way upstream (although they're not visible in this shot).

My favorite photoshoots are those where you can't press the shutter button fast enough because everywhere you look is potentially another good shot.

Indeed, mother nature does make it easy at times.

sometimes mother nature tends to make it a little "difficult"... lots of fog this autum. not much motivation for taking pictures.
here´s a more or less random collection of late summer/early autumn.

mostly views on a part of the Lueneburg Heath - and i thought this tree stub could pretty much play some wild deer - a bear? ;)
(we actually have evidences - footstamps, sightings - of wolves not too far away)

I`m still a bit in the analog thinking, beeing careful with the amount of pics i take, but slowly getting more relaxed.
That`s the best with the digital ... take a lot and then select the ones you really like.

    Great ones ! Thanks River ! :D

Your right about the foggy grey in grey weather we are having "down" here in South Sweden too at the moment.
It`s sometimes soo hard to even see something nice ! :(

Yes, the stub looks a bit like a bear.

Wolves back at Yours ? Wow !
Here they already started to kill them again so they don`t get too many ...
