  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

For what its worth, I think aproved size only or under. If it cant actualy be used, creators could enter anything they wanted of any size. The size restriction means a lot in what one can squeeze into it and still make it presentable. However, since it wasnt part of the rules, maybe let it slide this week since someone went through the trouble of making it.

idd... I have to allow it this week. And you're right. When I allow bigger sizes then I'll have complete wallpapered entered next week and this is the SIG of the week :).

I do like the vertical option tho. Same size restrictions but then vertical.

I assume we could pick a theme for a single week as a sig size instead of content to see what people do with a different format?

Let's not get too strict here folks.

Its not being strict, its being practical and realistic. An oversized sig is useless here for display so why bother in a Phun organized sig competition? But, thats just me. If the majority want to post random sizes that could never be used here, go for it.

Phun's approved size limit on sigs should be applied to SOTW.....dont really see a problem with vertical sigs though.

my opinion is 450 x 150 max. it can be smaller if they wish. but i don't know about verticle sigs as they're not allowed here, so it isn't really a sig as such. i peronally think just keep it standard.

As long as it says For Display Only then it's all good. I like playing with sizes and shapes. Nothing should be discouraged creatively.

But i do agree that the standard (and majoirty) of work should be in the normal format.

This is the creative backyard after all and even though a sig might not make it onto the board we shouldn't limit ourselves creatively.

It's like haiku, they are fun, but it's not the only way to use words :D

i agree complety, and i love seeing display work. but for the sotw i think it should be for sigs that can be used here after. that way everyone is on a level playing field and know where they are.

15 entries so far and I'm posting this at 13:20, which means there's 16 hours and 40 minutes left to enter.

Sigs should be the approved size only 450w x 150H.

Vertical sigs can be a winning competitors choice, that way everyone can do one. Same gos for animated gif sigs, but also should not be allowed at random into the competition.

I wouldn't allow the larger sig, because it offers more "canvas" to work with than what the allowed sig dimensions do.

    Just my opinion though

Well I can't disqualify it now, because it's not in the rules... but I'll put it in for next week.

And it's not like it's HUGE or anything, just a little bigger.

I'd like to see the voting remain private, as well as comments on who's submitted an entry. That way there's more guesswork on who's made what.

I've enjoyed seeing the rejected sigs afterwards. Its nice to see the variations and minds at work.

I don't get what happened... now the poll options are back to a max of 10? When it worked so well last week.

Anyways... SilentB, I know you voted for number 9 before you edited your post, but please don't edit your vote... I don't always know if you edited your reason or the number of the sig.

Any edited posts from now on don't get counted in te results.
