On June 12th, astronauts onboard the International Space Station watched in amazement as Russia's Sarychev Peak volcano erupted directly beneath their spacecraft. The rare photo they took is a must-see. An enormous sulfur dioxide plume from the eruption is now circumnavigating the globe at northern latitudes, producing spectacular sunsets for international air travelers.

Great bird pics! I used to put my hand out my apartment window and feed chickadees sunflower oilers out of my hand. Blue jays: one peanut at a time, right? And the cardinal is a beautiful bird.

One peanut, yep. And they're very wary of people - they take a long while to land on the window sill to grab one.

Though desolate the landscape appeals a lot to me ... quiet, pure and the wide open country must give you a pretty nice feel of freedom.

    [IMG] Nice photo Inuk.

Makes me think of the steppe in parts of Asia (Kazachstan etc...) where the decendents from Djengis Khan still roam the plains with their yaks.
Just wonder: "Do you also suffer from musquitos in spring, early summer?", 'cause over there it's a plague especially when winters were soft.
