A Nature Lovers Thread....

Some of the best food mushrooms we have in sweden. Can be used in any dish and even be used raw in a sallad. Only has one other lookalike in the forrest. But there is an easy way too tell the difference by simply looking at the foot. The lookalike is reddish and the common chantarelle is white on the foot. I just picked 1 kg on an hour not bad.

summer isn`t over yet (hopefully! some say it didn`t even start here...), but you already have decent hints of autum colors coming.

im not sure if these fit the theme of the thread, but i wanted to share them..

my grandma feeds all the stray cats around her house, but the last couple months a raccoon has been coming around and living under the porch with the cats..

 

why not?

hope this doesn`t mean too much bad luck for your grandma (some say racoons are pretty noisy) and the cats (some say racoons are pretty greedy)

 

well its my first time posting in this thread, just wanted to make sure..

actually the cats hiss and try to scare the raccoon away sometimes, they dont take any shit from him..

well actually its a her, my grandma found 3 dead raccoon babies on her porch one day..

Um late summer here just like at Rivers end. Not to weird since we live in the same part of the world. A few pics from my hideaway again. Its my brothers mutt. She is a very independent sunshine. I also saw a lizard/newt that i got a few pics off. The dog is a so called Basenji by the way for the one that might be interested.

not much to say about these i took them yesterday. The red berries are off course rowan-berries. In common older folklore around here it is believed that the more rowan berries it is the longer and colder will the winter become. Its all rubbish off course but these myths stay alive from generation to generation.

 

same here, same with acorns, beechnuts etc. - and i agree - how would the tree know it`s going to be a cold, long winter?

I went to http://www.orchideeenhoeve.com/, there they have a butterfly garden. I'm going at least ones a year to it. People from Belgium and Germany also come there

Such a cruel place Mother nature can be !
Two other doves do not like this one, so they are hitting her on the head.
Crazy thing is that she just sits there and takes it.
Not sure what i can do ... Probably nothing, just let nature take it`s course ...

 

Unless there is some animal shelter nearby you cant do that much. I dont expect you to be able to have the time to feed and nurture it to full health.
