I swear this is true...

I was coming back from a beer run to the convience store down the street from where I lived, taking the usual shortcut through the mobile home park next to mine. As I came up to a side street I could hear loud voices of Spanish speaking women, obviously in distress, arguing and crying. I stopped and looked down the street. About 30 paces along, I saw the back of a Toyota pickup, a man at the wheel, and standing adjacent was an older Hispanic woman arguing with the driver while her two teenaged daughters stood apart, crying and occasionally screaming curses at the man in the truck.

As I looked on, the man's arm came out of the driver's side window, leveled at the older woman. There was a small flash and a 'pop' like a firecracker and then the woman sank to the ground. The two teenagers were suddenly quiet. The man pulled his arm back into the cab and a moment later there was another 'pop', this one more muffled. His head sagged forward.

At that point, the crying and screaming really began in earnest.

I bet the whole episode didn't last 45 seconds. It seemed alot longer, it was so surreal. By the time I found my wits and called the emergency operator, someone had beat me to it.

Was this late in the evening or early in the morning? Shit, that is surreal & scary.
