Kinda busy....started measuring and preparing plans for extending our back porch concrete slab, etc. Also went by a few places getting some material specs and clarifying some concerns I had with placing tile where the direct sun will hit it.....have to consider a temperature different of between 20F and 140F....don't want the tile to buckle....especially at $4 a square foot just to buy it. :?

 

We are also replacing the back porch ceiling that was water damaged in the 2004 hurricanes....like three of them.

 

Major projects. Wow!

It's taking it's toll on the passanger mirror

 

Neither. I have an on-grade concrete slab that is currently covered with the roof overhang about 3 feet. That three feet never gets any sun and the grass slowly died back even before we had dogs.....with the dogs, the dirt area is much bigger and that situation really loads the house with tracked in sand, etc. I am extending the concrete slab by 6 feet with a small trapezoidal addition to that that the wife wants...:roll:....the additional concrete slab will extend beyond our current porch area to our fence as I want a paved area in front of my utility room door as it area is now also dirt. We plan on covering the entire, both old and new, concrete with an outdoor tile. We are also replacing three doors which were metal with fiberglass doors, including the jams. The doors are rusty, one is falling apart at the bottom pretty bad.....the hinges will be stainless steel. The door hardware will be replace with commercial grade as opposed to residential grade.

 

I can relate to the passenger mirror issue.

The wife is paying for all of this with the money she earned substitute teaching the past two years....last school year she taught every day the kids were in school less one....when she had to go with me for my colonoscopy last January.
