I see. Rain is good... until it starts flooding.

 

I was in a bit of a shock when I read that in this mornings paper.......

 

I read that too, and it's awful.

 

I don't think there has been any real flooding, though the news media will report a temporary roadway inundated as a flood. Most of our true floods occur when the head waters in Georgia are pounded with rain and the resulting flooding moves south into Florida. And obviously nothing like the flooding that occurs in the large river systems in the more central portions of the country.

 

If it did not rain in Florida, we would look like Arizona....lord knows we have enough sand!

 

Landscape maintenance companies here advertise by tossing little packets of rocks in people's driveways.

 

Had dental work done today....the entire left side of my mouth is throbbing....:sad:

I should think you get your fair share of flash floods though. I've learned they're quite dangerous. Plus you get the occasional surprise sinkhole swallowing stuff up. What a lovely thing to have to worry about.

Nothing worse that a toothache imo. Or pain in the gums. It's literally "in your face." Sucks.

Geez, perpetual rain here, but not all over the state. Just in my area. :?

 

I have to leave a little early tonight, so I'm going to eat, then take the dogs out early....

 

I have never seen or heard of a flash flood in Florida. The creeks can get pretty dangerous, especially in the urban/suburban areas when we get 3 inches of rain in 30 minutes. We just don't tend to have the dry floodways like they do in the West.

Rare to have someone killed by being eaten by a sinkhole, though one guy did a few months ago in the Central Florida area.

 

I've learned to appreciate rain, unless it's making stuff float away from where it belongs. And even then...

Agreed! I get this every time I get Novocain. It seems to be a nerve reaction to the drug when it has worn off.....should be fine in the morning.

You must have better drainage than I figured. Learned something new.

The big cities in the southwest have spent billions and billions on flood control. Phoenix is especially impressive. All the overflow basins have been turned into nice parks and greenways. This is a very attractive city, I was surprised.
